Flower Card Stamping with Veggies | Anthony & Stork | Spring 2013

As a kid I used to make my own stamps, experiment with paint and simply create. In reality, parents are so busy now days, who has the time to go out and buy all the tools to complete a simple craft? Unless you have an art closet like me of course. Aside from that, rubber stamps seemed to have gone up in price (well at least for the really great ones).

This Easter holiday the idea came back to me. I originally started with the left over buds from a head of Romaine Leaves and then decided to try other veggies. Bell peppers work best when the ridges around them are deep, this way the flower shape more visible. And for all of you that are handy you can always modify anything by chiseling away with a sharp knife.

For best results after cutting cucumbers or carrots for the round shapes (or carving leaves) let them sit out to dry for a few hours. This will give you a nicer refined lines.

You can purchase a pack of blank cards at most craft stores or cut card stock and fold in half. The paint bottles are a buck or less at Michaels. So have fun and do not forget to compost the old veggies after washing the paint off.
